Employees of Cox Communications, Las Vegas presented $75,000 Cox Charities grants to The Just One Project, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth and Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum in celebration of the company’s 30-year Cox Charities giving milestone.
Cox Charities, a voluntary employee workplace giving program also overseen by employees, has awarded more than $3.4 million in charitable grants to nonprofit organizations in Southern Nevada. Grants are targeted toward nonprofit programs that focus on STEM in K-12 education, environmental sustainability, housing and food insecurity.
“Cox employees continue to step up for local organizations,” said Cox Las Vegas Market Vice President Janet Uthman. “Their year‑round giving and volunteerism make it possible for Cox Charities to deliver landmark support and ensure local organizations have the resources they need for essential community programs.”
The Cox Charities grants come at a time when nonprofits’ needs are rising nationwide. According to the Fundraising Effectiveness Project, the number of individual donors declined by 4.5 percent last year, and donor retention fell another 2.6 percent, even as nonprofits report increased need for food assistance, housing support, and educational resources (National Council of Nonprofits).
