UNR Receives Gift for New Life Sciences Building
Robert M. Davidson has made a transformational $30 million gift to the University of Nevada, Reno to support the new Life Sciences Building, advancing life sciences education, research, and workforce development in Nevada. The Life Sciences Building will be constructed at the south end of campus near the Tulloch Business Building.
New Casino Opens in Cadence
Boyd Gaming’s Cadence Crossing Casino opened on Boulder Highway in Henderson in late-March. The opening was celebrated by Boyd Gaming senior executives and City of Henderson elected officials. The casino is named for its proximity to the Cadence master-planned community and features 450 slot machines, two restaurants, a center bar and a lounge.
Genetic Counselors Added to List of Licensed Professions
The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners, the agency charged with regulating medical professionals, has added genetic counselors to its list of licensed professions. The Nevada Legislature approved the new health care licensing category beginning this year, during the 2025 legislative session.
Food Bank of Northern Nevada Highlights Community Health Partnership
In partnership with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation and Feeding America, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada highlighted the importance of food in community health. Launched in 2017, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada Prescription Pantry, “Food as Medicine” program helps neighbors facing hunger access nutritious foods that meet their health needs. This is done by partnering with health providers, emergency food pantries and community partners.
