Tract Acquires Additional 517 Acres Inside TRIC for Data Center
A developer of master-planned data center parks, Tract, announced the acquisition of an additional 517 acres inside the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRIC). The site is adjacent to the company’s previously announced 686 acres within TRIC along Peru Dr. and expands the company’s footprint to support the growth of data centers in the market. “This acquisition represents a bolt-on that can stand alone as a data center campus or create additional scale for the Peru Shelf we have previously announced,” said Grant van Rooyen, CEO and managing partner at Tract. “We recognize the durability of Reno’s strategic advantages over northern California for data center development and continue to invest to facilitate further growth from existing players and new entrants alike.”
Household Debt in US Hits Record High
According to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, US households owe a record $17.5 trillion in debt. However, a WalletHub inflation-adjusted analysis showed the absolute total is 5 percent below the all-time high when adjusted for inflation. The study found that the average US household owed a total of $146,084 at the end of 2023 and ended the year with $38 billion more debt than they started it with. However, this still represents an 89 percent improvement from the prior year.
Nevada Ranks Third in Best Places to Work in a Small Business
According to data from Venture Smarter, Nevada employees in businesses smaller than five employees earn the third-highest average rate nationwide. The average salary is 22 percent over the nationwide average at $68,300. The data was analyzed for employees in businesses of fewer than five, five to nine and 10 to 19 employees.
SilverSummit Healthplan Accepting Applications for Special Rural Community Investment Program
The Nevada managed care organization, SilverSummit Healthplan is now accepting applications for its newly launched Special Rural Community Investment Program. The program is aimed at helping local organizations improve the health and well-being of individuals living in rural Nevada. Under the program SilverSummit will provide grants, ranging from $15,000 to $25,000 to supplement existing programs or contribute to new initiatives that need additional funding. Program priorities include housing services, justice re-entry programs, maternal child health, youth recreation and prevention of at-risk behaviors, nutrition education, food insecurity and increase access to preventative care and technology.
Roseman University of Health Sciences Named Top Producer of Fulbright Scholars
The US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs recently recognized Roseman University of Health Sciences for being a top producer of Fulbright US Scholars among special focus institutions. Roseman was one of only 11 special focus institutions recognized. The Fulbright Program is the US government’s flagship international academic exchange program. Since 1946, the Fulbright Program has provided over 400,000 students, scholars, teachers, artists and professionals of all backgrounds the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research abroad.
Interim Finance Committee Approves $7.5 Million for Nevada’s Tech Hub
Nevada’s Interim Finance Committee has approved a $7.5 million match for a $75 million appropriation from the US Economic Development Administration (EDA) to fund Nevada’s Regional Technology and Innovation Hubs (Tech Hubs). The state’s provision is in partnership with the Economic Development Authority for Western Nevada (EDAWN). Nevada’s Tech Hub is a network of more than 60 public-private partnerships with entities throughout all of Nevada counties. Last year, the EDA announced that Nevada will be one of the 31 inaugural Tech Hubs. The state was selected from a pool of 489 applicants from across the United States and its territories.
Marathon Health and Everside Health Announce Merger
Marathon Health and Everside Health, advanced primary care and occupational health providers have announced a merger of over 680 health centers across 41 US states. In Nevada, the merger will result in 14 health centers in Las Vegas. Combined the two organizations serve over 2.5 million patients. Moving forward the merged organization will continue to be known as Marathon Health.
