NV Energy Transmission Line Approved
A $4.2 billion, 350-mile transmission line between Las Vegas and Reno has been approved by the U.S. Department of the Interior. A NV Energy project, Greenlink West will run from Las Vegas to Yerington and could transmit as much of 4,000 megawatts of clean energy. This would be enough to power 4.8 million homes. Construction is set to begin early next year and planned for completion by May 2027. Alongside Greenlink West, Greenlink North is a project in the works and would be a 210-mile, 3,500-foot wide utility corridor through Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land.
Legal Aid Complex Approved by Las Vegas
The Las Vegas City Council has approved the land use entitlement requests for Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada’s Advocacy & Justice Complex. The project is expected to cost $30 million and is located at 8th St. and Charleston in Las Vegas, It is slated to be complete by August 2026. The complex will house the Resiliency & Justice Center along with the Family Justice Project. The complex is 90 percent funded by community leaders and philanthropists.
Sanford Center Receives Grant Funding
The Sanford Center for Aging at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine received $783,881 in grand funding for 2025 from the State of Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division and the Department of Public and Behavioral Health. The funds will be allocated to a variety of free programs benefiting the needs of older adults.
CCSD Improves Student Achievement
According to the 2024 Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF), more than half of Clark County School District (CCSD) schools improved their performance during the last school year (2023 to 2024). Index scores increased for 200 schools, with 80 increasing their star rating, which is ranked from one to five stars. The NSPF is the Nevada Department of Education’s (NDE) statewide accountability system.
