Roseman University Receives Grant for Empowered
The EMPOWERED program at Roseman University College of Medicine was awarded a two-year grant of $230,360 per year through the Fund for a Resilient Nevada. The grant will support the program to continue to help pregnant and post-partum women in their recovery from opioid use disorders. The fund was established in 2021 to administer Nevada’s portion of opioid litigation recoveries.
Nevada First State With “Right to Start” Legislation
Nevada recently made history by becoming the first state in the nation to sign “Right to Start” legislation with Governor Joe Lombardo’s signing of AB77. The bill establishes an Office of Entrepreneurship with the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) and helps remove barriers for entrepreneurs to encourage new business. The bill received bipartisan support.
Western Governors University Participates in Software Developer Apprenticeship Program
Developed in collaboration with the Las Vegas Global Alliance (LVGEA), the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), Workforce Connections and IONnovate, the Southern Nevada Software Developer Registered Apprenticeship Program is the first of its kind in Nevada. Western Governors University (WGU) recently announced it will be the first cohort to participate in the program, which provides students with an “earn and learn” approach at no cost. The program is accredited with the Nevada State Apprenticeship Council.
