What was your first job?
Delivering newspapers with my father.
What do you want your legacy to be?
A loving husband and father, an honorable business leader, and a true Christian.
What is an issue currently facing your industry an outside observer might not be aware of?
One issue I think our industry is facing that an outside observer might not be aware of is our challenge to attract a diverse workforce. As we recruit to fill positions, I hope to see our candidate pools begin with a diverse slate of candidates, but this isn’t usually the case. It could be a perception that our industry doesn’t embrace diversity so students don’t seek degrees in business, finance or accounting. It could be the selection process. As a firm, we are committed to expanding our diverse workforce, but it is an industry-wide challenge.
What work project are you excited about in the next few months?
I’m excited about expanding our recently opened J.P. Morgan Private Bank office here in Las Vegas. We’ve been serving the Las Vegas area for over a decade, but having a local team presents us with new and exciting work to do for our clients and the community. Having moved to Nevada at such a challenging time, I’m looking forward to using my leadership to help in the local rebuilding effort.
What three words would you want your worst enemy to use when describing you?
Integrity, Persistent, Passionate.
What was the toughest lesson you’ve learned in your career?
Don’t expect people to see or interpret things your way – be clear, be compassionate, be direct.
What is your motto?
“It’s not how many times you get knocked down, it’s how many times you get up and keep moving forward.” However, my kids might say, “No fun until the work is done.”
What is your favorite thing about living in Nevada?
I am brand new to Nevada; my family and I have moved a lot and we love every place we have lived for different reasons. We are excited to explore hiking in Red Rock, the melting pot of cultural cuisine, exciting entertainment and basking in the dry heat.
