RENO, Nev. – The Reno Rodeo Foundation’s annual Denim Drive returns Nov. 8 through Dec. 31 for its 15th year of collecting monetary and clothing donations across 14 Northern Nevada counties to support abused and neglected infants, children and teens who have been rescued from unfit homes.
Supporters have multiple ways to participate in the Denim Drive. They can drop off new clothing into a donation bin, they can purchase a pocket and “Donate a Dollar for Denim” at a participating location or they can make a monetary donation on the Reno Rodeo Foundation website or by texting “Denim Drive” to 44321.
“The work we do during the Denim Drive each year has become a crucial resource for Northern Nevada children and teens” said Scott Peterson, President of the Reno Rodeo Foundation. “It’s so much more than just a pair of jeans or a new sweatshirt. These donations offer a sense of well-being and comfort and sends a deeper message that someone cares about these kids as they begin their foster care journey.”
More than 120 locations will host donation bins to collect new jeans, socks, shirts and underwear. An interactive map with all donation locations can be accessed on the Reno Rodeo Foundation website at https://www.renorodeofoundation.org/denim-drive/.
Donors can also contribute to the Denim Drive by purchasing a “Dollar for Denim” at Famous Dave’s, Huntley Motor World, ITS Logistics, Manpower Temporary Services, Plumas Bank, Plumbers Union Local 350, Papa Murphy’s and all Nevada State Bank, T-Mobile, Sierra Car Wash locations throughout Northern Nevada.
“The monetary donations make an immense impact because they allow us to purchase clothes and supplies that fit immediate needs,” said Clara Andriola, Executive Director. “One-hundred percent of every dollar donated is used to purchase new clothing and items throughout the year that fit the individual child’s needs. Some of these children are just beginning their foster care journey or are attending family court proceedings in Northern Nevada Family District Courts. These funds help us provide support around the clock and tailor each donation to make sure it is exactly right for each child.”
Clothing and other items are distributed throughout the year by the Reno Rodeo volunteers, in partnership with the Washoe County Human Services Agency and the Nevada State Department of Child and Family Services.
