What was your first job?
A financial Advisor for PaineWebber in NYC. As a teenager, my first job was working at a local KFC.
What do you want your legacy to be?
Someone who cared about people, took an interest in their success and worked to make people and the industry better.
What is an issue currently facing your industry an outside observer might not be aware of?
The lack of diversity and inclusion in the financial services arena. I am glad to be part of a company that has been addressing this issue for many years.
What career advice would you give to your teenage self?
Don’t doubt yourself and don’t believe that you are less than. There are a lot of people who feel inferior to others, and that is not a path to success.
What is your motto?
“When all is said and done….more is said than done,” “Be a doer!” and “People will forget what you say, forget what you did but never forget how you made them feel.”
If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be and what would you have?
Andy Dufresne from the Shawshank Redemption. I would have my favorite meal when I eat out… steak.
What would be the title of your autobiography?
Don’t Stop Moving Forward.
What is the best moment of your career?
I don’t believe that it has happened yet, but my immediate answer would be the first day I was hired. That day allowed me to do things that I never dreamed that I could.
What was the toughest lesson you’ve learned in your career?
You cannot just succeed with performance… you need to have relationships with “sponsors” or people who can help you advance in your career.
What three words would you want your worst enemy to use when describing you?
Persistent, motivator and great storyteller.
If you had to live in another country for a year, which would you choose and why?
I’m not certain which country in particular, but I would like to spend a year in a country that needed help so that I could give back.
