How did you get into your profession?
After high school, I spent six years in the 820th RED HORSE Squadron at Nellis AFB, followed by a brief role as assistant superintendent at The Ribeiro Corporation, before enrolling in UNLV’s School of Architecture and joining Lucchesi, Galati Architects.
Who has been instrumental to your success?
My family, who always believed in and encouraged my personal vision along with the mentors who guided me during the formative years, Ray Lucchesi, Craig Galati, John Haddad, and Denise Cook.
What career advice would you give to someone who is just starting out?
Be and do your very best without comparison, care for yourself and others along the way, and take time to enjoy the journey, it’s shorter than you expect.
How do you motivate your team?
By fostering a culture of transparency, trust, and respect, each of our team members are encouraged to aspire beyond (perceived) limitations to achieve greater results for themselves, our clients, and the firm.
What is an issue currently facing your industry that an outside observer might not be aware of?
The U.S. Department of Education recently proposed reclassifying architecture as a non-professional program for federal student loans, potentially capping graduate borrowing and further shrinking the architectural pipeline as the profession continues to recover from workforce losses following the 2008–09 recession.
What would be the title of your autobiography?

If you were going to teach a college course, what would you teach?
Since 1997, I have intermittently taught architecture and interior design studios at the UNLV School of Architecture, and I look forward to continuing—potentially through a design-build studio or professional practice course. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experiences with the next generation of architects.
What do you hope future generations can learn from your professional journey?
With passion, hard work, and commitment, anyone can find success. Pay it forward when you can to individuals and organizations in need. Live by the Golden Rule and respect karma.
