America is not perfect. Nevada is not perfect. But both are worth celebrating!
In a world full of war, division, political poison, open borders, economic pressure and cultural confusion, it is easy to forget the obvious: we still live in the freest, most blessed nation on earth. And we live in one of the most opportunity-filled states in that nation.
Independence Day is not merely a date on the calendar; it is a declaration. It is a reminder that freedom was not handed to us by politicians, bureaucrats or foreign powers. It was purchased by patriots, defended by soldiers and preserved by generations who believed liberty was worth the sacrifice.
From Lexington and Concord to Valley Forge, to Gettysburg, to Normandy, to Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and countless unnamed battlefields, Americans have paid the price for the freedoms we enjoy. Many never came home; many came home wounded and many still carry scars we will never see. To every veteran, every active-duty service member, every military family, and especially to those who died defending this country, we owe more than words. We owe gratitude, respect, honor and a renewed commitment to preserve what they protected.
Here in Nevada, we have much to celebrate. We are a state built by grit, miners, ranchers, entrepreneurs, builders, gaming pioneers, hospitality workers, military families and dreamers who came west believing tomorrow could be better than yesterday. From rural Nevada to Reno, from Carson City to Las Vegas, this state still rewards work, risk and determination.
Even with challenges, Nevada remains a place of optimism. We are leading in job growth, expanding in logistics, technology, mining, energy, tourism, sports, entertainment, construction and small business opportunity. Nevada’s economy continues to diversify, and our location, tax climate, natural resources and independent spirit still make this state one of the most exciting places in America to build, invest, work and raise a family.
Yes, we have problems: water, education, crime, political division, cost of living and government overreach. But problems are not reasons to surrender. They are reasons to lead.
The Fourth of July should not be reduced to fireworks, hot dogs and a long weekend. It should be a yearly, monthly, weekly and daily reminder that liberty is fragile. If we do not teach it, defend it and live worthy of it, we can lose it.
We need to celebrate America again without apology. We need to celebrate Nevada without cynicism. We need to teach our children that freedom is a blessing, not an accident. We need to honor the flag, respect the fallen, thank our military, support law enforcement, defend free enterprise, protect religious liberty and remember that citizenship carries responsibility.
Call to Action This Independence Day, let each of us make a resolution: complain less, serve more, pray for our state and nation. Thank a veteran! Help a neighbor! Support local businesses! Speak truth with courage and goodwill. Vote with wisdom and defend freedom in your home, business, church and community. Nevada and America do not need spectators or back-seat quarterbacks; they need grateful citizens willing to stand, build, protect and lead. God has blessed us with a great state and a great country. Now it is our duty to be worthy of both.
