Top Rank Attorneys (formerly Legal Elite), a feature which has appeared in Nevada Business Magazine since 2007, showcases attorneys from across the state as nominated by their peers. The list includes attorneys in both private and public practice, in northern and southern Nevada, and the Best Up and Coming for the state.
Polling for Top Rank began in mid-February. This year, Top Rank received around 2,500 individual votes from Nevada-licensed attorneys.
The following lists are comprised of attorneys that received the most votes and represent approximately 3 percent of licensed attorneys in Nevada. Each attorney that made it on the list not only had to receive enough votes to qualify, they also went through several levels of verification and scrutiny. When the nomination process closed, each ballot was reviewed for eligibility and every voting attorney was verified with the State Bar of Nevada. Once a vote was verified, each nominee was then scored based on the number and type of votes received. Attorneys that garnered votes from within their own firm were given a score of one and those that received a vote from someone at another firm were given a weighted score of three. After scores were tabulated, each attorney’s standing with the state bar was reviewed and they were contacted directly to verify information.
Top vote getters for the north, south and Best Up and Coming lists were asked to appear on the cover. Featured this year is Jennifer McMenomy with McMenomy Law representing the northern Nevada attorneys, Gregory Kerr with Wolf, Rifkin, Shapiro, Schulman & Rabkin representing the southern Nevada list and McKenna Sullivan with Marquis Aurbach appearing on behalf of the Best Up and Coming.
