RENO, Nev. (Feb. 18, 2025) — The Reno Rodeo Flag Team is now accepting applications for the 2025 season. This elite group of skilled equestrians plays a vital role in the pageantry and tradition of the Reno Rodeo, presenting sponsor flags with precision and enthusiasm before sold-out crowds each night of the event. Riders looking for a unique opportunity to showcase their horsemanship in one of the country’s top rodeos are encouraged to apply by March 1.
The Reno Rodeo Flag Team is composed of dedicated horsewomen who exemplify strong riding ability, teamwork, and a deep passion for rodeo. Applicants must be at least 14 years old by April 13 and have access to a well-trained, seasoned horse comfortable with loud noises, fast-paced environments, and close proximity to other horses. Prior rodeo or flag-carrying experience is beneficial but not required.
Tryouts for the 2025 Flag Team will be held on Sunday, April 13, at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center Indoor Arena. Candidates will be evaluated on horsemanship, control, and ability to carry and present a flag at speed. Riders must bring their own horse, tack, and appropriate riding attire.
Those selected will represent the Reno Rodeo throughout the ten-day event, held June 19–28, and may also have opportunities to participate in community events and promotional appearances leading up to the rodeo.
