The Nevada Treasury has extended the deadlines for two key programs that support Nevada’s future and current college students as they plan, save and invest in their financial futures. The Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program’s Open Enrollment Period and the Kenny C. Guinn Memorial Scholarship Application deadlines are now open until May 8, 2026.
“We’re committed to supporting Nevada families at every stage of their education journey, from saving early to investing in our future teachers,” said Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine. “In extending these deadlines, we hope to allow more families and students the opportunity to act now by locking in today’s tuition costs and applying to receive support to become our state’s next generation of educators.”
With the deadline extension, families now have more time to enroll in the Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program, which allows participants to lock in today’s in-state tuition rates and plan ahead for future education costs. This extension comes as higher education costs are expected to rise following January’s approval by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents. Now is the ideal time to enroll before tuition increases of up to 12% take effect over the next three years, beginning this fall for both universities and community colleges. With the enrollment deadline extension, the first payment is due May 15, 2026, and must be submitted at the time of enrollment. Eligible Nevada college students pursuing careers in education also have extended time to apply for the Kenny C. Guinn Memorial Scholarship, which awards $5,000 scholarships to four students each year – two from Northern Nevada and two from Southern Nevada – who are committed to teaching in Nevada following graduation.
