HENDERSON/STOREY COUNTY, Nev. – Google has provided over $300,000 in support for 12 organizations across southern and northern Nevada through its Data Center Community Impact Program.
The program supports eligible organizations and initiatives that directly impact the immediate community surrounding a Google data center. The funds will support projects that focus on education, economic opportunity, bridging the digital divide, sustainability, health and science, and arts and culture. Google has data center campuses in Clark and Storey Counties, and will provide support to the following 12 organizations across southern and northern Nevada:
SOUTHERN NEVADA
First Friday Foundation will use funds for workshop supplies and entertainment to improve mental health and well-being in Clark County through its ArtUOk? program.
Goodwill of Southern Nevada will use funds towards expanding its Opportunity Accelerator program, specifically to supportive services such as transportation, certifications, and professional clothing.
Hospitality Charitable Foundation will allocate funds towards program supplies and workshops to continue supporting low-income Clark County students pursuing hospitality degrees at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will put funds towards supplies and materials to help reduce underage drinking in Clark and Storey Counties.
Positively Arts will use funds to support its youth empowerment programs across Southern Nevada.
Project Marilyn will allocate funding to provide Three Square with 500 period kits per month for a year, serving 6,000 periods and increasing access in underserved areas.
Serving Our Kids Foundation will work to expand its Feeding Their Dreams program to 5,000 meal bags per week for the 2024-25 school year, totaling 180,000 bags.
The Ability Center will use funds to support its summer expansion program at Southern Nevada’s only special needs gym, adding at least nine small group circuit classes per week and serving an estimated four members each.
NORTHERN NEVADA
Food Bank of Northern Nevada will allocate funding to continue reaching more individuals in need of food and to cover freight charges for its Northern Nevada Mobile Harvest program.
Sierra Nevada Journeys will use funds to support its Classrooms Unleashed program that provides comprehensive STEM programming that combines classroom learning with a field study to a local natural area, exposing students to diverse STEM professionals.
United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra will put funding towards supporting a second year expansion of its Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library; a book gifting program that mails free books to enrolled children, promoting early childhood literacy.
Veterans Guest House will utilize funds to furnish four residential bedrooms for its Veterans Hospice House Pilot Program.
