Andrea Vigil, the COO and co-founder of Allegiant Electric LLC, a Las Vegas-based full-service commercial and residential electrical contractor, has been recognized as the 2022 Region IX Small Business Person of the Year, representing Guam, California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii. She was also named the Nevada Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
The annual distinction is part of the SBA’s National Small Business Week program, which recognizes small businesses and their leader’s entrepreneurial development and community impact. The SBA said this year’s honorees played a vital role in supporting the country’s historical economic comeback while navigating setbacks from the pandemic.
“The challenges that impacted almost every industry, served as my motivation to ensure my company, family and team members would not have to face even more uncertainty at work,” said Vigil. “As a small business owner and leader, I am directly responsible for my team members, but also their families, which is why I gave everything to guarantee our professional, financial and personal survival.”
Part of Vigil’s recognition derived from her ability to meet payroll, hire eight new employees, purchase three additional service vehicles and increase job bidding capacity to $1 million throughout the pandemic. The SBA also acknowledged her long-term business accomplishments and community involvement, including increasing revenue by 59 percent in four years and annually volunteering with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department and Cox Communications.
Vigil and her husband Anthony co-founded the firm in 2015 and have since established it as a Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB), Woman Business Enterprise (WBE), Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Small Business Enterprise (SBE), Nevada local Emerging Small Business (ESB), Local Disadvantaged Business (LDB) and Local Small Business (LSB) company.
“Such recognition further solidifies my efforts to establish my presence as an innovative small business and industry leader,” said Vigil. “As my company continues to grow, I plan to continue expanding my outreach to serve as a voice in representing small, minority, women-owned businesses in Nevada and throughout the country.”
Since receiving the distinction, Vigil has been invited by both Vice President Kamala Harris and U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto to discuss the issues facing small business leaders, including to the White House’s Small Business Leaders Mitigation and a luncheon among Nevada’s small and minority owned businesses. She was the only Nevadan and electrical contractor to attend the Small Business Leaders Mitigation.

During the pandemic, I was scrambling for an electrician, and I saw one of their trucks and I called, and they have been absolutely stellar for me, they came through at the worst time and their prices, and their work were outstanding and since then I have given them a lot of business throughout my company, so I strongly recommend using them
