LAS VEGAS – Andrew Simon, president and chief executive officer of Fremont Street Experience, will step down from his role, effective Nov. 21, to pursue a new opportunity. He departs after more than five years leading the iconic six-block entertainment district in downtown Las Vegas.
Simon played a pivotal role in the transformation of Fremont Street Experience, steering the downtown Las Vegas destination through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, opening a new police substation, and strengthening its reputation as a must-visit attraction for tourists.
“Andrew’s leadership during one of the most difficult times in our city’s history was nothing short of remarkable,” said Mark Brandenburg, Chairman of the Fremont Street Experience Board of Directors. “His vision and commitment ensured that Fremont Street Experience remained a vibrant, safe, and welcoming destination for locals and tourists alike. We are grateful for his contributions and wish him continued success in his next chapter.”
“I am grateful to the Fremont Street Experience Board of Directors, our employees, and the City of Las Vegas for their support and partnership during my tenure,” said Simon. “It has been an honor to lead such a distinctive and historic destination and to work with so many committed professionals who contribute daily to the success of downtown Las Vegas.”
The Fremont Street Experience Board of Directors will immediately begin a search for a new CEO. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the entertainment industry, with both public and private hotel and casino owners, as well as local political leaders, to further enhance the downtown Las Vegas community.
