Western Title Acquires Titles Service and Escrow Company
Nevada’s sixth oldest company, Western Title Company, has joined forces with Fernley and Yerington’s Title Service and Escrow Company. The acquisition gives Western Title the largest footprint of any title and escrow company in Nevada. The acquisition went into effect on the first of last month. The organization now has eight locations in Nevada and serves 10 counties. Western Title Company has over 70 employees in Nevada and provides title and escrow services to Northern Nevada.
Las Vegas Receives $45 Million in New Markets Tax Credits
The City of Las Vegas is set to receive $45 million in New Markets Tax Credits from the U.S. Treasury Department. The credits are designed to promote investment in low-income and under-served communities in Southern Nevada. The Las Vegas Community Investment Corporation (LVCIC) was created to facilitate investment in owner-occupied commercial real estate projects in the city’s distressed neighborhoods and received $55 million in tax credits in 2016.
MGM Resort Employees Enroll in College Through NSHE Partnership
Approved by the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) in September of last year, the MGM Resorts International has partnered to provide free college to employees. Available to the organization’s over 70,000 employees nationwide, 511 have signed up to begin classes in August. The MGM College Opportunity Program is the first of its kind wherein a Fortune 500 company has partnered with an entire system of higher education to allow eligible employees to receive online education through NSHE institutions.
Roseman University Granted Accreditation for Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Roseman University of Health Sciences has received accreditation for the school’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The initial, five-year accreditation was granted by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), a move from previous accreditation with the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The move to CCNE accreditation better aligns with Roseman leadership’s goal of providing graduate nursing education at the Masters and Doctoral level.
