About Ashlee Simpson
Ashlee Simpson-Ross has spent the past two decades proving she’s more than a pop icon—she’s a resilient, fearless artist with an authentic voice and a story that continues to evolve. She first skyrocketed to fame in 2004 with the release of her debut album, Autobiography. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and went on to sell over five million copies worldwide. Its breakout single, “Pieces of Me,” became an instant anthem, earning RIAA Gold certification and peaking in the Billboard Top 5.
What set Ashlee apart wasn’t just her chart success—it was her ability to connect. As the co-writer of every song on Autobiography, she mastered the art of expressing vulnerability and introspection, giving fans relatable glimpses into her world. Whether it was through raw emotion in “Shadow” or embracing a playful edge in “La La,” Ashlee showed the many facets behind her powerhouse voice. The album’s success earned her multiple accolades, including the Billboard Music Award for Best New Female Artist and two Teen Choice Awards.
Her 2005 follow-up, I Am Me, also debuted at No. 1 and cemented her status as a pop force. By 2008, her album Bittersweet World showcased her growth as an artist, earning critical acclaim and reaching the Top 5 on the Billboard charts.
Beyond the studio and the stage, Ashlee made a bold leap into theater. In 2006, she took on the iconic role of Roxie Hart in the West End production of Chicago, earning rave reviews for her performance. She later reprised the role on Broadway, bringing her signature charisma and stage presence to New York audiences.
Ashlee’s versatility extended to television, where she won hearts playing Cecilia Smith on the long-running drama 7th Heaven, and later drew acclaim for her edgy turn as Violet Foster in the Melrose Place reboot. MTV’s hit reality series The Ashlee Simpson Show gave fans an unfiltered look at her journey through fame, music, and self-discovery. In 2018, Ashlee and husband actor, producer and entrepreneur Evan Ross launched their docuseries Ashlee+Evan giving viewers an inside look into their unique lives as they balance their extensive careers and family life.
