OPD5 Board Trustee Douglas Waite recently received the Nevada Rural Electric Association (NREA) Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his exemplary service and contributions to the association.
The mission of the NREA is to advocate on behalf of its members throughout Nevada and to promote the value of democratically governed not-for-profit utility service.
Waite was first appointed to the NREA Board of Directors in 2011. He has since been re-appointed to the same post on numerous occasions and has served continuously through 2019. During his many years of board service, Waite has provided valuable insight, perspective and guidance to the board to help the association fulfill its mission. In his position, he also worked to help establish policies, goals and objectives for the association, including those designed to help enhance the value of membership.
“I am happy to see Doug receive recognition for his many years of service on the NREA Board of Directors,” said Mendis Cooper, general manager of OPD5. “During his career, Doug has gained years of valuable knowledge and experience. He has a gift when it comes to making friends and interacting with people. I think it’s great that he had the opportunity to use that gift to share his experience with NREA members, legislators and policymakers in the state.”
The Nevada Rural Electric Association was founded in 1974 to represent the collective interests of one municipal utility, six rural electric cooperatives and two power districts and their consumers across Nevada.
