Reno, NV – Dolan Auto Group and the Reno Rodeo Foundation are proud to announce Brody Hughes as the recipient of the first-ever Tom Dolan Scholarship, created to honor the life and enduring legacy of Tom Dolan. Hughes, a senior at Churchill County High School, was selected from 21 applicants for his exceptional academic achievements, leadership skills and dedication to serving his community.
Hughes will attend the University of Nevada, Reno, where he plans to study economics with the goal of commissioning as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and becoming a pilot. His passion for aviation was ignited by growing up near Naval Air Station Fallon, where he saw the impact of military service members in his community.
“I can think of no better position than that of an officer in the Air Force to grant me an amazing opportunity to defend and give back to this great nation,” said Hughes in his scholarship essay.
Beyond his academic pursuits, Hughes has demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and service. He has served as a peer tutor, Honor Society Secretary, and was elected Federalist Party Chairman at Nevada Boys State. Additionally, he has earned multiple academic accolades, including two NIAA All-State Academic Team awards.
The Tom Dolan Scholarship provides $10,000 in financial support to a student who exemplifies integrity, ambition and a commitment to community—values embodied by Tom Dolan throughout his life.
The scholarship was presented to Hughes at the Reno Rodeo Association Membership Luncheon held at the Grand Sierra Resort on Thursday, May 15.
