On Saturday, April 7, 2018, in partnership with FOX5’s Take 5 To Care, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children will hold its third annual National Siblings Day Festival at Tivoli Village on Rampart and Alta to raise awareness of brothers and sisters separated in foster care. The community, including brothers and sisters Valley-wide, are invited to celebrate with these children and young adults.
The National Siblings Day Festival is an official FOX5 Take 5 To Care event sponsored in part by Subaru of Las Vegas, Desert Springs Hospital and Henderson Hospital. It will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Tivoli Village located at 400 South Rampart Boulevard, Las Vegas, Nev. The community is invited to bring the family and celebrate the special connection between siblings. Generous community partners will share free entertainment, food, carnival games, prizes, a bounce house, balloon artists, magician and even a visit and song from Ana and Elsa.
“We are excited to bring brothers and sisters together with our National Siblings Day Festival,” said Christina Vela, executive director of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children. “It is critical that siblings have the chance to not only see each other, but also to have fun and create memories together. Their bond may be the only lasting relationship they have growing up and we want to make sure they have a chance to build on it.”
There are thousands of children living in foster care in the Valley and about half of them are unable be placed with their sibling. Once they are separated, most of these children are rarely reunited. St. Jude’s Ranch for Children’s Sibling Preservation Program helps to preserve the sibling bond in spite of separate placements by offering programs and events for these brothers and sisters to spend quality time together.
