<Attorney ready to help Michaelson expand its family law division>
Innovative family law and estate planning attorney Carmen Avello recently joined Michaelson Law. After running her own practice for a number of years, Avello saw Michaelson as an excellent partner to help her take the next steps in her career.
“I enjoyed having my own firm, but I missed having a team, other attorneys to talk to and staff to help out with things,” Avello said. “With these resources in place at Michaelson Law, it allows me to better focus on client communication and spending more time with the client. I feel that’s what sets me apart as a family law attorney.”

Over the years, Avello has developed a holistic approach to family law where she encourages clients to address emotional and spiritual challenges while going through a divorce in order to make better legal and financial decisions.
“Generally, most people see divorce as a lose-lose situation,” Avello said, “but when I watch my clients leave at the end of their divorce with a smile, when I see them getting excited about their future, when I watch their progress every week, it’s very satisfying. I feel like I really helped and made a difference.”
A graduate of the Texas Tech School of Law and licensed in Nevada since 2000, Avello previously oversaw the family law division at De Castoverde Law Group. She was also corporate counsel for engineering firm GeoTek. A firm believer in supporting her community, she provides general counsel services to the Latin Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves as a Spanish translator for the Southern Nevada Senior Law Program, a local nonprofit law firm serving those over the age of 60. She was also the recent recipient of the State Bar of Nevada’s Section Pro Bono Challenge, where she was the top volunteer in the Probate & Trust section.
