(August 1, 2024 – Reno, Nev.) – Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada (CCNN) is pleased to announce that Annie Allen has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO) after serving as the organization’s director of Immigration Legal Services for the past 6.5 years.
“Annie has been an invaluable resource for our staff and brings a wealth of knowledge and well-rounded experience to her role as COO,” said Marie Baxter, CEO of CCNN. “As the director of Immigration Legal Services, she built community partnerships to better serve our clients through education and advocacy, and I am confident that she will continue this same dedication in her new position as she’ll play a critical role on our executive team.”
Allen holds full accreditation through the Department of Justice’s Recognition & Accreditation Program, enabling qualified non-lawyers to represent individuals in immigration legal matters. With this accreditation, she has represented hundreds of clients before the Department of Homeland Security and the Executive Office for Immigration Review, while also managing a legal team of six other accredited representatives. Allen attended the University of Nevada, where she earned a B.A. in International Affairs and Spanish, and an M.A. in Foreign Language & Literature (Spanish).
Allen’s nonprofit experience spans nearly ten years. She began her career in Baton Rouge, La., working with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge in the Refugee and Immigration Services Department, eventually becoming the department director. In December 2017, Allen returned to No. Nev. to continue her career and provide community support in the city where she was raised.
