2024 Reno Rodeo Championship Finals Results
RENO, Nev. (June 30, 2024) – When the dust settled on the 2024 Reno Rodeo, there were some very happy rodeo contestants heading out of town. The rodeo marks the start of the busy summer rodeo season and winning here gives contestants momentum as they head into “Cowboy Christmas,” which includes all of the rodeos held over the Fourth-of-July holiday.
In bareback riding, Garrett Shadbolt had the highest ride of the night with an 89-point ride on Bridwell Pro Rodeos’ No Tail Dear. However, with his commanding lead going into Saturday night, R.C. Landingham’s 83.5-point ride was enough to secure the championship with 257 points on three head. Sam Petersen and Bronc Marriott also performed well, finishing with 256 and 253.5 points, respectively.
Steer wrestling saw a tight race with tenths of a second separating the leaders. Tanner Brunner’s 4.0-second throw was the fastest of the night, but Dalton Massey and Tucker Allen became co-champions with 13.9 seconds on three head each. Brunner finished third with 14.1 seconds on three head.
In team roping, Andrew Ward and Kollin VonAhn took the top spot with an average time of 16.1 seconds on three head, after a 4.8-second run in the finals. Nelson Wyatt and Jonathan Torres secured second place with 16.5 seconds, while Coleman Proctor and Logan Medlin, along with Jr. Dees and JC Flake, tied for third with 16.7 seconds.
The saddle bronc competition was fierce, with Dawson Hay achieving the highest score of the night with an 88.5-point ride on Corey & Lange Rodeo’s Diamond Fever. Despite this, Ryder Wright clinched the overall championship with 259.5 points on three head, followed by Rusty Wright with 257 points and Hay with 254.5 points.
In tie-down roping, defending Champion Shad Mayfield wowed the crowd with a 7.6-second run, securing the championship with an overall time of 25.2 seconds on three head. Shane Hanchey and Cole Clemons tied for second place with 27.2 seconds each.
Women’s breakaway roping continues to be a fan-favorite event, delivering jaw-dropping performances at the Reno Rodeo. Taylor Munsell came into the night with the fastest time and held on to win her first pair of silver spurs following her 3.2-second throw for a total time of 8 seconds on three head. Munsell has consistently ranked in the top 10 every year since breakaway roping was introduced at the Reno Rodeo, and this marks her first win. Beau Peterson impressed the crowd with a lightning-quick 2.7-second run, finishing with a total of 8.5 seconds on three head. Kendal Pierson rounds out the top three with 8.8 seconds on the week.
The barrel racing event saw Emily Beisel claim the fastest time of the night with a blistering 16.99-second run, but Hailey Kinsel’s consistent performances throughout the week earned her the championship with a total time of 51.54 seconds on three head. Beisel would end the week in second with 51.59 while Hailey Garrison rounded out the top three 51.81 seconds on three head.
Bull riding was dominated by Tristen Hutchings, who showcased his exceptional skills throughout the week. Hutchings had the top ride in both the first and second rounds and capped off his performance with a spectacular 90.5-point ride on Rosser Rodeo’s Loguns Legacy, winning the championship with 181 points on two head. Scottie Knapp secured second place with 175.5 points, while Clayton Sellars finished third with 173 points.

About the Reno Rodeo
The Reno Rodeo, established in 1919, is a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) sanctioned event and one of the top rodeos in North America.
