The College of Southern Nevada will proudly celebrate its graduating Class of 2025 at two commencement ceremonies on Monday, May 19, at the Thomas & Mack Center on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus. Ceremonies will take place at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., honoring the academic achievements of more than 4,500 students who have persevered through challenges to reach this milestone.
This year’s keynote speaker is CSN graduating student, filmmaker, and 2025 Student Production Emmy® nominee Hisonni Mustafa Johnson. A former student-athlete who returned to higher education after a successful filmmaking career, Johnson’s powerful personal journey is a testament to the transformative impact of community colleges like CSN.
“CSN reminded me that education isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being persistent,” Johnson said. “To anyone who thinks it’s too late to start over, I’m here to tell you: It’s not.”
Johnson’s speech reflects on his time at CSN — where he became a father, rediscovered his passion for storytelling, and found support through TRIO, student life programs, and dedicated faculty. His inspiring story speaks to the determination, creativity, and resilience found throughout this year’s graduating class.
Students who earned their degrees and certificates in the summer and fall of 2024, and the spring and summer of 2025, are eligible to walk in this ceremony. In total, CSN is awarding 4,595 degrees and certificates. This includes 224 bachelor’s degrees, which is a 40 percent increase over last year and the most in our history.
