Former Olympic athlete and ‘Coach of the Year’ takes charge of a dynamic set of programs
CSN welcomes Yvonne Wade as the new Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. With over 20 years of successful leadership experience in intercollegiate athletics, Wade brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role. She replaces Dexter Irvin, who retired this year.
“I am honored and excited to join the College of Southern Nevada Athletics Department as the new Director of Intercollegiate Athletics,” Wade said. “I look forward to working closely with the talented coaches, dedicated staff, and exceptional student-athletes to continue building a culture of excellence both on and off the field. Together, we will strive for success, foster inclusivity, and make a positive impact in our community.”
CSN athletics includes men’s baseball; women’s softball and volleyball; and men’s and women’s soccer, cross country, and basketball.
Wade’s extensive background in team building, motivation, community service and inclusivity will further strengthen the Athletics Department’s mission of providing a supportive and empowering experience for student-athletes.
Prior to joining CSN, Wade served as the Director of Track and Field & Cross Country at UNLV for over a decade. During her tenure, she achieved remarkable success, earning three Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year titles and guiding her teams to numerous championships and national competitions. Her athletes consistently excelled academically, maintaining impressive GPAs and graduation rates.
As an accomplished athlete herself, Wade’s notable achievements include representing Japan in the 1996 (Atlanta) and 2000 (Sydney) Summer Olympics, where she competed in the 100m hurdles. She held the Japanese record in the 100m hurdles for several years and was an eight-time Japanese national champion.
