Funding Will Support and Expand Research Capabilities for Pediatric and Rare Disease Patients at Cure 4 The Kids Foundation
LAS VEGAS – June 14, 2023 – Cure 4 The Kids Foundation (C4K), Southern Nevada’s only pediatric cancer and rare disease treatment center, received a $50,000 grant from the Tony and Renee Marlon Charitable Foundation to support C4K’s clinical research efforts.
The $50,000 grant of unrestricted funds follows a $40,000 contribution made by the Marlon Charitable Foundation to C4K in 2022, supporting the clinic’s research program.
“This is an incredibly beneficial and generous gift for Cure 4 The Kids Foundation patients,” said Annette Logan-Parker, president and CEO of Cure 4 The Kids Foundation. “I want to thank Dr. Anthony Marlon and his charitable foundation for the continued support of our research program, which is essential in finding better treatments. The additional funding will allow us to enroll every eligible patient in a clinical trial which, ordinarily, is expensive.”
Studies have consistently shown that patients enrolled in clinical trials have better medical outcomes. Over the years, clinical trials have led to better treatments for all pediatric patients.
Cure 4 The Kids Foundation patients are enrolled in approximately 40 clinical trials related to hematology, oncology, and rare diseases and disorders. The trials are administered through the Children’s Oncology Group, the country’s leading organization of pediatric doctors and treatment centers. An additional ten clinical trials are supported by other sponsors, including studies related to sickle cell disease and hemophilia.
Marlon, co-founder, and president of the Tony and Renee Marlon Charitable Foundation, has played a vital role in developing and innovating the Southern Nevada healthcare industry. Marlon founded Sierra Health Services, Inc. (Sierra). This publicly traded healthcare company was comprised of several medical-related subsidiaries, including Health Plan of Nevada (HPN), Nevada’s largest health maintenance organization (HMO).
