North Las Vegas, Nev. – Early voting for the approaching City of North Las Vegas June primary election is set to begin on Saturday, May 25, 2024, with mail-in ballots scheduled to be delivered to residents’ mailboxes starting Friday, May 17, 2024.
Residents of North Las Vegas will vote on Questions 1 and 2 of the ballot, referred to as Fund 268 and Fund 287. These measures are crucial for determining the allocation of resources for the community’s future development and safety.
“Early voting provides a convenient opportunity for residents of North Las Vegas to have their say in shaping the future of our community at a time that suits their schedules,” said Councilman Scott Black. “This election will directly impact critical services that affect our daily lives, from fire safety to public parks and law enforcement. North Las Vegas residents are strongly encouraged to review these two measures and cast their ballots early to ensure their voices are heard.”
Question 1 directs funding to Fund 268, designated for the North Las Vegas Fire Department and Parks and Recreation Department. Over the last three decades, these investments have led to significant improvements and expansions, including partially funding the building of the first new fire station in over a decade; purchasing new fire and rescue trucks; purchasing lifesaving Technical Rescue Equipment to respond to events like flash floods and chemical containment events; upgrading the city’s public safety camera system; and rehabilitating existing parks, pools, recreational facilities, and community centers while continuing to develop new ones.
Question 2 directs funding to Fund 287 to bolster public safety and support the North Las Vegas Police Department, the Community Corrections Center, and Animal Protective Services. This funding sustains approximately 65 positions across these services, covering not only personnel but also the necessary equipment and associated costs.
Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Election Day on June 11, 2024. It is critical to follow all instructions included with the ballot to ensure it is filled out correctly and returned on time.
The early voting period will run from Saturday, May 25, 2024 through Friday, June 7, 2024 at several designated polling stations across the city.
