
EDAWN Declares Inaugural 2023 Reno Startup Week A Huge Success
September Event Featured Hundreds of Participants from Around the World
RENO, Nev. (October 17, 2023) – Reno Startup Week 2023, the inaugural week-long event celebrating entrepreneurship and innovation, concluded on September 29th with resounding success. The event featured engaging panels, workshops, networking opportunities, and inspiring keynotes.
Hosted at various locations throughout the city, Reno Startup Week drew over 1200 participants across all events, including startups, founders, investors, and community leaders, making it the most significant startup event in the region. The event aimed to inspire, educate, and connect aspiring entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses, and it delivered on those promises in abundance.
“Reno Startup Week 2023 exceeded all expectations, fostering innovation, empowering entrepreneurs, and strengthening our community,” commented Taylor Adams, President and CEO of EDAWN. “It showcased the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit of Reno and highlighted the immense potential within our startup ecosystem. One attendee, engineer and entrepreneur Allison Greene of Reno said, “I had no idea how much Reno had to offer for entrepreneurs. I have met the most incredible and inspiring people at Reno Startup Week, learned things that will change my life; I’ve grown in confidence, and I’ve entered the mindset that my dreams are attainable. I’ve found where I’m supposed to be and what I’m supposed to do. It has been a wild ride, but I finally feel like I’m home, career-wise, amongst this group of people in the Biggest Little City.”
Governor Joe Lombardo declared it Reno Startup Week in Nevada, in a proclamation that was echoed by the Washoe County Board of Supervisors, who also provided grant money to get the event off the ground. Other major sponsors included: Dragonfly Energy, Holland & Hart, EDAWN, Value Ventures/LionDragon Studio, StartUpNV, Plumas Bank, the University of Nevada, G8 Strategies and Tech Edge Developers. Additional sponsorship was provided by Macy & Peters Law, Google, UNR Research & Innovation, Registered Ink, Healing One, Reno Public Market, THE ROW, Ozmen Center for Entrepreneurship, Advantage Capital, Fintrepid Solutions and KMC Solutions.
Sponsorship allowed attendees to participate in the week’s activities at no charge. Additionally, over $25,000 was awarded in cash and prizes for winners of the Great StartUpNV Scavenger hunt and winners of the Elevate Reno pitch competition.
