Empire, a residential community managed by WestCorp Management Group, has been named August Community of the Month by Move For Hunger in recognition of its outstanding efforts to fight hunger. Through its Spring Into Action Food Drive, the community collected more than 558 pounds of food, equivalent to 664 meals, to support the Salvation Army of Las Vegas.
The initiative, held in alignment with September’s Hunger Action Month, mobilized residents to donate much-needed items such as canned vegetables, tuna, chicken, rice, beans, pasta, sauces and shelf-stable milk.
“Our team at Empire really enjoyed the process and seeing the impact of the meals provided to those in need throughout the community is very heartwarming,” said Jed Weidauer, vice president of business development at WestCorp Management Group. “Our goal was not only to collect donations but also to make it as easy as possible for our residents to participate.”
To encourage engagement, Empire distributed food donation bags to all residents, sent reminders to those preparing to move out, and created a display in the leasing office to showcase daily contributions. The team also offered door-to-door pickup for added convenience.
Thanks to these efforts, hundreds of pounds of food were gathered and directed to local families in need.
