Staff, students, and their families celebrate the school’s 60th anniversary.
Las Vegas Day School was founded by Helen and Jack Daseler in 1961 and is the first non-sectarian, non-denominational private school established in the state of Nevada. The 2021-2022 school year marks the school’s 60th school year, and the staff, students, and their families are celebrating.
The 60th anniversary activities throughout the school year culminated with ‘A Night at the Museum’ at the Children’s Discovery Museum where teachers, parents, and students celebrated the milestone.
LVDS has remained continuously family-owned and operated since its start sixty years ago, with third-generation family members who have followed in the footsteps of the founders. The school has grown from twenty-seven students in a one-room schoolhouse to the current seventeen-acre campus serving over 750 students in grades preschool through eight. Las Vegas Day School stands in honor of Jack and Helen Daseler’s perseverance, hard work, and lifelong dedication to education, but more importantly as a legacy of quality education for future generations to follow.
More than 850 parents and children attended the Night at the Museum celebration. The school’s Director, Mr. Neil Daseler, stated, “The Night at the Museum had a wonderful turnout to celebrate sixty years of touching the lives of thousands of children in the Las Vegas community.”
