VegFourth Grader Khloe Kohlmeier Awarded In VEGAS PBS KIDS Writers ContestKhloe Rose Kohlmeier, a 9 year old fourth grader from Desert Torah Academy, is one of the winning finalists that wrote a 300 word essay to enter the VEGAS PBS KIDS Writers Contest. Khloe chose to write an essay that discusses religion- titled “The Jews Today In Israel”.
Kohlmeier competed against 300 4th grade entries from Las Vegas, Henderson and Laughlin, and was one of the top 30 of all fourth graders who entered.
“I feel so special, like humble, that my story was chosen. I wrote my story on Israel and how people are doing there. It’s also about our religion and Jewish life. I think writing about it will help people understand what’s happening ” says Khloe.
Khloe is the oldest of 3 children. Kohlmeier would like to be a Doctor when she gets older.
The VEGAS PBS KIDS Writers contest presented by Janice Allen, is designed to promote the advancement of children’s literacy skills through hands-on, active learning. The contest- made possible by local financial support from Janice Allen-empowers children in grades K-5 to celebrate creativity and build literacy skills
by writing and illustrating their very own stories.
A panel of judges selected the 2024 winners. All of the winners receive a prize pack, including a hard cover version of their story,
autographed books, and a custom backpack
