Give a Dog a Bone Event in Carson City
Feeding Pets of the Homeless charity event tickets on sale now
CARSON CITY, Nev. – March 1, 2023 – Help pets locally and across the nation with a rollicking music show. Feeding Pets of the Homeless, a national non-profit based in Carson City, hosts its first-ever Give a Dog a Bone Pet Food Drive & Charity Concert Saturday, March 11, at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall in Carson City.
This one-of-a-kind event includes world-class musicians The Sam Chase, Greg Gilmore and Rachael McElhiney.
Advance tickets now are $20, or $17 for seniors and Brewery Arts Center members. Tickets at the door are $25. The center is located at 449 W. King Street. Give a Dog A Bone reception is at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7.
The Sam Chase has a voice like a Nun on the lam with a mouthful of cigarettes and curse words in a lonely bar, drunkenly dancing next to a broken jukebox. His songs are scribbled, not written, on lipstick and sweat-stained motel bedsheets because he likes the way the ink bleeds. His is a show you’ll probably want to tattoo on your body so everyone will know that you knew him before he was cool.
Greg Gilmore is a bit like a caption of a time gone, but not forgotten. A self-taught, nationally touring troubadour bearing a self-lit torch informed by the rock’n’roll and songwriting days of yore. His influences include Jackson Browne, Willie Nelson, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison. Gilmore applies his own kindling to a smoldering flame.
Rachael McElhiney’s laugh can take over a room. And if you’re fortunate, you know her songs can do the same – in fact, McElhiney’s conversational songwriting coupled with her quiet mastery of saxophone and ukulele has recently cemented her as a darling of the Reno music scene.
People who are homeless with pets are often desperate to find shelters that allow pets, seek help to find an agency that will give them pet food and help them provide emergency veterinary care. Feeding Pets of the Homeless alleviates some of the already harsh pressures faced by those in need, by helping their furry companions in need.
