Goodwill® of Southern Nevada (Goodwill) is proud to announce Mary Brabant, director of Disability & Volunteer Programming, has been appointed by Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo to serve on the Rehabilitation Council for the State of Nevada.
The Nevada State Rehabilitation Council (NSRC) works to ensure that the state’s vocational rehabilitation programs, specifically the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Bureau of Services to the Blind and Visually Impaired, are consumer-oriented, consumer-driven, and focused on achieving meaningful employment outcomes for Nevadans with disabilities. The Council also serves as a vital link between individuals with disabilities, employers, and state and community vocational rehabilitation programs by relaying client experiences, connecting employers with qualified candidates, and sharing ideas to improve services statewide.
“I am deeply honored to be appointed to the Nevada State Rehabilitation Council,” said Brabant. “For more than 25 years, my work has focused on creating pathways to employment and independence for people with disabilities. I look forward to collaborating with fellow Council members, state partners, and the community to strengthen vocational rehabilitation services and expand opportunities for Nevadans with disabilities to achieve meaningful, competitive employment.”
Brabant joined Goodwill in 1996 and pioneered several of Goodwill’s signature disabilities programs, including the upcoming Seasonal Education Experience (SEE), in which 10 participants who have a hard time maintaining employment will do supervised work. Other programs include Community Based Training (CBT), Skills To Enable Personal Success (STEPS), the Student Work Experience Program (SWEP), and the Work Readiness Summer Program. Earlier in her career at Goodwill, she served as director of human resources for 20 years, including three years as director of HR and Workforce, further strengthening the organization’s workforce development efforts.
As director of Disability & Volunteer Programming at Goodwill of Southern Nevada, Mary oversees all programs of service designed to support people with disabilities and community service workers. Since joining Goodwill more than two decades ago, she has played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding the organization’s regional impact.
Her expertise and long-standing commitment to vocational rehabilitation previously led to two terms of service on the Nevada State Rehabilitation Commission. In recognition of her leadership and contributions, Brabant has received the Goodwill Industries President’s Award (2002) and the Edgar J. Helms Award (2009), and she is a graduate of the Goodwill Industries International Senior Leader Program.
Her term runs from February 1, 2026, through January 31, 2029.
