LAS VEGAS, NEV (Oct. 30, 2025) — Today, Google Fiber (GFiber) made a $50,000 donation to the Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE (Mayor’s Fund) to support training programs at the Strong Future Technology Training Center in the Historic Westside.
Accepting the donation from Will Novak, Government and Community Affairs Manager for GFiber were City of Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley; Las Vegas City Councilwoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong, Ward 5; Dr. Tammy Malich, Director of Youth Development & Social Initiatives, City of Las Vegas; and Mayor’s Fund CEO Sallie Doebler.
Operated by the City of Las Vegas, the Strong Future Technology Training Center provides programming to assist youth of all ages and adults in developing critical skills to assist with securing employment. At the Center, students learn soft skills, enjoy access to intern opportunities, and work on certification programs and vocational training.
According to Doebler, workforce development has long been a focus of the Mayor’s Fund, an independent 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that supports select quality of life city initiatives. “We are grateful to GFiber for its transformative gift that will bolster and expand the city’s ability to effectively prepare more young adults for future employment, creating a path to financial independence,” she said.
“We believe the digital divide is conquered not only through increased access from new providers, but also in training our communities with the digital skills they need to compete in the 21st century,” said Novak. “And that’s why we’re excited to be involved with the Westside Workforce Campus.”
