STOREY COUNTY/HENDERSON, Nev. – Google is assisting eight Nevada-based organizations across Henderson and Storey County, Nev. with over $275,000 in combined grant donations to support each organization’s initiatives to better serve communities across the Silver State.
Made possible by Google’s data center community grants program, Google helps aid eligible organizations and their initiatives within the immediate community surrounding a Google data center.
Google has chosen the following eight organizations as grant recipients for their corresponding regions, along with the respective programs that will benefit from said funding:
HENDERSON

Baby’s Bounty will utilize funds to support their Diapers for Diplomas program which will provide free diapers to low-income parent students at Nevada State University.

CORE, Powered by the Rogers Foundation will direct grant funding to their CORE Academy: Findlay Middle School Expansion program.

DISCOVERY Children’s Museum will utilize funding towards its DISCOVERY STEM Education programs.

Henderson District Public Libraries will use funds to expand its Supporting Internet Connectivity program.

Hope Means Nevada will allocate funds toward their Youth Mental Wellness Outreach Campaign.

Eddy House will allocate funds to its Community Living program.

Fernley ACES will allocate funds to its Fernley ACES Music, Murals, Margaritas Festival.

Veterans Guest House will use funds for its Virtual Platform Lift for Veterans program.
“We are so grateful for this community investment from the Google Data Center Community Grants Program for our Diapers for Diplomas initiative,” said Kelly Maxwell, CEO and Executive Director of Baby’s Bounty. “This program is already improving the lives of parenting students in Henderson who are attending Nevada State University.”
Google considers a variety of requirements when reviewing grant applications including the quantified contribution that the program has brought to its respective community, the creative approaches the organization has taken for future replication ability, and collaboration with other community resources with aligned goals.

Additionally, community grants fund projects that focus on each of the six pillars: education, economic opportunity, bridging the digital divide, sustainability, health and science, and arts and culture.
