HENDERSON, Nev. – Nevada State University (“Nevada State”) is proud to announce that Nevadans will soon be able to show their Scorpion pride on the road, thanks to legislation signed by Governor Joe Lombardo on May 30, 2025, authorizing an official Nevada State license plate.
Senate Bill 181, sponsored by State Senator Michelee Cruz-Crawford and passed unanimously by the Nevada Legislature, establishes a specialty license plate celebrating Nevada State. The design features a sleek black background accented with the university’s signature gold and prominently displays the iconic Scorpion mascot.
Proceeds from the license plate will directly support Nevada State’s new athletics program and help address food insecurity among students, two critical initiatives aligned with the university’s commitment to student success and community impact.

Nevada State’s license plate joins the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the University of Nevada, Reno, allowing supporters to contribute to their alma mater or favorite institution in a meaningful way.
The license plate will be available to order through the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles this fall.
