RENO, Nev. – Following the success of its 10th Anniversary Benefit Concert featuring Yachtley Crew, Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) presented Communities In Schools (CIS) of Western Nevada with a check for $44,509.04, reflecting proceeds from the April 18 performance at the resort’s Grand Theatre.
“At Grand Sierra Resort, we believe in using our platform to uplift the community we call home,” said Christopher Abraham, chief marketing officer at Grand Sierra Resort. “Through GSR Cares, we’re proud to support organizations like CIS that are doing vital work to ensure every student has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. This benefit concert was more than a night of entertainment—it was a powerful example of what happens when a community comes together to invest in its future.”
The event raised more than $85,000 in total to support CIS of Western Nevada’s mission to provide wraparound services and vital resources to students in 20 high-needs Washoe County schools. A special student-signed poster was also presented to GSR in appreciation.

The benefit concert featured Yachtley Crew, the Los Angeles-based “yacht rock” tribute band known for its high-energy, nostalgia-packed performances and pitch-perfect renditions of soft rock classics from the ’70s and ’80s. GSR donated use of the Grand Theatre and associated production services to support the event.

CIS of Western Nevada places full-time and professionally trained site coordinators in 20 Title I and high-needs schools across Nevada to support more than 10,000 students in grades K-12 who face barriers to their success—increasing the likelihood of students staying in school and graduating on time.
