Kris Helmick is no stranger to giving back to the community. Joined by his giant blue bear mascot, Attorney Helmick has visited children’s hospitals giving away teddy bears to sick kids, offered scholarship incentives to law students and has donated and supported numerous local Las Vegas charities.
Now Helmick is the sponsor of KSNV’s Mentoring Mondays, matching up to $7500 over the next few months to the Epicurean Charitable Foundation’s scholarship recipients.
ECF scholarship recipients come from a variety of backgrounds, genders, and ethnicities, but all share one common bond- they are brilliant, but lack the means to pursue a career without financial support. ECF relies on the support from the community to change the lives of local students through scholarships and unique mentorship opportunities while working with partnering organizations to build a better Las Vegas.
As part of the Future Leaders of Hospitality Program, each ECF student is paired with a member of the board for the duration of their education. The program provides the students with personal advice, academic assistance and access to unique job and internship opportunities during monthly in-person meetings or video chats. The ECF board is composed of more than 20 of the top food and beverage and hospitality executives in the city.
Helmick states ” I feel strongly about the Epicurean Charitable Foundation and I feel honored to sponsor them. They partner with kids in high school that want to go into the hospitality industry and give them a full ride to UNLV. It’s life changing for these kids.”
