[Sonia Petkewich, founder of Taurean Consulting, honored for business success and contributions to the community as a whole]
Sonia Petkewich is known for her drive to succeed in business while helping others thrive as well. The founder of tech recruiting agency Taurean Consulting Group was recently honored for both her career accomplishments and for helping other women and men improve their businesses. The honors were presented to Petkewich on the same day in late March.
On March 25, 2022, she was awarded the “Women in Business” award at the Urban Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business & Politics Awards Luncheon at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino. On the same day, she was also inducted into the state’s Women’s Chamber Hall of Fame at its 17thannual Hall of Fame luncheon at the Orleans Hotel & Casino.
“There are so many women in Las Vegas doing amazing things, and any time my name is mentioned alongside theirs, I’m always humbled by it,” Petkewich said. “I think awards are important because they highlight how so many creative women are serving our community with their business ideas and it’s all so incredibly inspiring to me.”
In addition to running her company, Petkewich is also president of the Nevada chapter of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners). She also founded the Catalyst Mastermind Collaborative in 2020 as an opportunity for business owners to come together to discuss issues facing their businesses and to find solutions, make better decisions, and thrive together.
“You want to surround yourself with people who elevate the conversation, and you want a safe place to go and work on your business when chaos is happening,” she said of Catalyst, “but it’s also about accountability. We like to use the word ‘care-frontational.’ We want each other to continue to grow personally and professionally, but we need to hold each other accountable as well.”
One of the best parts of Petkewich’s day was being able to share it with her 14-year-old daughter, Arden, who attended both awards events.
“I think it’s so powerful for her to see other women working hard and finding success and doing what they love,” Petkewich added. “My company is seven years old now, and I feel like I’m really hitting my stride. As far as my goals for the future, I want to continue to serve the small business community and grow Catalyst with members who have a transformational mindset and who are really open to growing personally and professionally.”
