LAS VEGAS–The Las Vegas Lights FC and Nevada Donor Network announced today that they have partnered to host “Donate Life Match” during the Sept. 21 Lights FC home game versus the Sacramento Republic taking place at Cashman Field, 850 N. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas NV 89101. This night will support Nevada Donor Network and its mission to save and heal lives through organ, eye and tissue donation, with the goal of inspiring more people to register as donor heroes.
In effort to say “thank you” to all those who have registered as an organ, eye and tissue donor, the Lights FC is offering a $1 discount on tickets purchased at the Cashman Field box office for those showing a driver’s license with the heart icon indicating donor status.
During the match, Dinorah Arambula, kidney transplant recipient and 2024 Transplant Games of America Female Athlete of the Year, will be honored as the “Pink Scarf Recipient.” Arambula is also known as “Medals” for her impressive lifetime collection of awards, including 55 medals from the Transplant Games of America (a multi-sport event similar to the Olympics for individuals connected to donation and transplantation) and 12 medals from the World Transplant Games.
“We are so thankful to the Las Vegas Lights for honoring Dinorah, as she is truly an inspiration to us all,” said Nevada Donor Network President and CEO Joseph Ferreira. “Dinorah was an active soccer player before falling into kidney failure, to the point where she could barely climb a flight of stairs, and now after her lifesaving transplant, she regained her health and continues to stay fit, competing around the world to honor her gift of life from her heroic donor.”
There are more than 100,000 Americans currently waiting for a lifesaving gift on the national transplant waiting list, including nearly 700 Nevadans. One heroic organ donor can save up to eight lives, heal up to 75 lives through tissue donation, and help restore sight to up to two people through cornea donation.
