Las Vegas – Legacy Traditional Schools, a network of public, tuition-free charter schools in Nevada and Arizona, commemorated the grand opening of the school’s first Henderson campus at a ribbon-cutting ceremony held August 2. The new campus is located at 325 Inflection St. within the Cadence master-planned community. The campus will officially open its doors on August 9 to nearly 1,400 students in grades K-8.
Principal Jennifer Hackett will provide leadership to the new campus as well as Candyce Farthing, the new superintendent who will oversee all Legacy Traditional Schools in Nevada.
“We are excited to expand Legacy’s back-to-basics curriculum to Nevada’s brightest students,” said Candyce Farthing, Nevada Superintendent of Legacy Traditional Schools. “This campus marks the next stage of our growth as we expand our academic reach in Nevada and further our mission of building lifelong learners and good citizens.”
The new campus boasts 95,000 square feet and includes:
- 41 classrooms
- State-of-the-art culinary kitchen where lunch is made-from-scratch daily
- Indoor artificial turf field
- Regulation-size hardwood basketball court
- Piano classroom with headsets to improve learning and retention
- Athletic fields, two separate playgrounds and offices
The Henderson site is the second location in Southern Nevada for Legacy Traditional Schools. The campus joins Legacy Traditional School – North Valley, in North Las Vegas, which welcomed nearly 1,200 students for its 2017-2018 school year. Plans for a third campus in Southwest Las Vegas at Rainbow Boulevard and Wigwam Avenue were approved in January. The new campus will open in fall of 2019. Enrollment for the southwest campus will begin this fall.
