LAS VEGAS – Lutheran Social Services of Nevada, a nonprofit organization, will hold a wine tasting May 13 to raise money for its new JOURNEY Senior Services Center, a program to bring seniors together and pull them out of social isolation.
The tasting, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the penthouse of the Red Rock Casino, 11011 W. Charleston Blvd., will feature tastes of wines from around the world along with a pasta bar and appetizers.
DJ Lionel Miranda, a music producer, hip-hop musician and founder of Sptlght Entertainment, a collective of Southern Nevada DJs and media professionals, will entertain.
The wine tasting will also feature a brief presentation of Lutheran Services’ success stories in Southern Nevada. The nonprofit, which launched in 1985, annually helps more than 38,000 clients break free from poverty, homelessness and hunger.
Lutheran Social Services serves Southern Nevadans with nutrition and empowerment programs including DigiMart, a food pantry that lets clients order fruits, vegetables and other groceries online from their homes and from local kiosks.
“Some of you know that we received a large grant to expand our building for our new JOURNEY Senior Services Center,” said Armena Mkhitaryan. “So many seniors are living in social isolation over the long term here in Nevada. Proceeds from this event will help us jump start new programs in our JOURNEY Center such as senior meals, bingocize, and other ministries and programs to bring seniors together and pull them out of social isolation.”
