LAS VEGAS – Lutheran Social Services of Nevada will hold a back-to-school resource fair for children and families from 9 a.m. to noon, Friday, Aug. 4, at its headquarters, 4323 Boulder Highway.
The event is free and open to the public. Media is invited to attend.
The event will feature a dunk tank, bounce house, snacks, shaved ice drinks, face painting, music and door prizes. Children will receive free backpacks, school supplies and other educational resources, while their parents and caregivers are connected to important community resources.
Lutheran Social Services hopes to help 200-300 families at the event.
Lutheran Social Services of Nevada, which launched in 1985, annually helps more than 38,000 clients break free from poverty, homelessness and hunger. The nonprofit serves Southern Nevadans with a variety of nutrition and empowerment programs including DigiMart, a food pantry that lets clients order fruits, vegetables and other groceries online from their homes and from Lutheran Social Services of Nevada’s kiosks.
“The Back-to-School Resource Fair is a great event for kids to have fun while their parents are connected with valuable resources in the community,” said LSSN Director of Development and Communications Martin Malmberg. “We’re grateful to Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for hosting this event.”

About Lutheran Social Services
Lutheran Social Services of Nevada (LSSN) is a locally born grassroots organization that emerged in the 1980’s to serve people in need in Las Vegas.
LSSN is known for its diverse services for individuals of many demographics, including low-income, at-risk of homelessness, homeless, families with or without children, youth, veterans, people with disabilities, and senior citizens. Comprehensive social services include DigiMart, an online food pantry; mobile food distribution events called Open Air Markets; nutrition education classes and live cooking demonstrations; senior supportive services including the Senior Meal Program; employment services; women’s health resources; mainstream benefits applications; and other safety net services.
Although Lutheran-based, LSSN is open and inclusive in the services we offer. We have an extensive nondiscrimination policy, which applies to our employment policies and service delivery.
