With recent changes to state laws now permitting recreational and medical marijuana use, marijuana in the workplace can be a hazy issue for employers and human resource professionals.
That is why Workforce Connections Business Engagement Specialist Team (B.E.S.T.) is holding a special Business Engagement Panel discussion featuring nationally recognized and local experts on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Workforce Connections, 6330 W. Featured panelists are Andrew Freeman, co-founder, and partner of Freedman & Koski, Inc. Known as Colorado’s Marijuana Czar, Freeman was appointed the state’s first Director of Marijuana Coordination by the Governor. He has been featured by 60 Minutes, NBC Nightly News, The New York Time, The Wall Street Journal and dozens of other national and international news outlets.
Carmen Jones, M.D. is a practicing physician for 26 years who has been involved in the medical marijuana industry since 2011. Jones is a medicinal cannabis patient advocate and was appointed by the Clark County Commission to the Green Ribbon Advisory Panel that focuses on protocols for delivery of marijuana products to customers and emerging issues with respect to public consumption.
Christian Gabroy, Esq. is the managing member of Gabroy Law Offices in Henderson, Nevada. During his career, he has personally litigated more than one hundred civil cases involving personal injury, employment discrimination, wrongful termination and unlawful employment practices.
Dr. Wendi Hawk is the Chief Academic Officer of Nevada State High School (NSHS), a public charter school that provides 11th and 12th-grade students with an early college experience. Dr. Hawk’s responsibilities involve academics, curriculum, activities, assessment, and accountability of the NSHS system. Nevada State High School has received 5-star designations from the State of Nevada and has been recognized nationally for outstanding student achievement.
