LAS VEGAS, NEV (April 16, 2025) — National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is April 13-19, and to show appreciation to the dedicated professionals who answer 9-1-1 calls day and night, the Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE (Mayor’s Fund) enlisted the help of the community, securing more than 100 thank you cards created by K-5 students at five local elementary schools participating in the City of Las Vegas after-school programs, along with donations from local citizens to purchase gift cards.
Yesterday, Mayor’s Fund CEO Sallie Doebler was joined by Lori Lopez, City of Las Vegas Youth Development & Social Initiatives, and Jordan Moore, City of Las Vegas Fire & Safety, to deliver the 100-plus hand-crafted thank you cards, along with Pinkbox Doughnuts donated by Siegel Cares, to the City of Las Vegas Public Safety Telecommunicators team.
“Honoring public safety telecommunicators for their service is long overdue,” said Doebler. “These dedicated professionals are the lifeline between our community and emergency services, answering more than 600,000 emergency calls each year in the City of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Clark County. We appreciate the many students from local elementary schools who took the time to make thank you cards, and we appreciate the support of the community to help us recognize these dedicated public servants.”
