LAS VEGAS – For the second year in a row, Forbes named Nevada State Bank one of “America’s Best-In-State Employers.” The bank is the only financial institution listed among the top employers in Nevada, ranking ninth on the list.
In addition to the Forbes recognition, the bank won two awards in the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Las Vegas Business Press Top Workplaces Nevada program, including the Values Award, where employees recognized the bank’s strong values, and third place in the “large business category” for companies with at least 500 employees, as an overall Top Workplace.
“We’re very proud to receive these awards recognizing our commitment to our colleagues and to our workplace environment. Our core values and our company culture are the foundation that sustains us every day,” said Terry Shirey, president and CEO of Nevada State Bank. “It’s our colleagues who make Nevada State Bank a top employer, and they have certainly gone above and beyond this year to help our clients during these unprecedented times.”
Partnering with Statista.com, Forbes’ second annual list was compiled based on an anonymous survey of more 80,000 employees at companies with at least 500 employees. The list was divided into 51 rankings – one for each of the 50 states, plus the District of Columbia. Surveys were conducted on a rolling basis from October 2019 to May 2020, and responses regarding the same employers were compared throughout the process, to account for any statistically significant variations in the results collected before and after the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Top Workplaces Nevada program identified public, private, nonprofit or government organizations that exceled at organizational health and employee engagement and have at least 35 employees in the state. The Las Vegas Review-Journal and Las Vegas Business Press, in partnership with research firm Energage, offered a free assessment through a simple, scientifically sound and anonymous employee feedback survey, which was completed in March. Energage surveyed more than 16,000 employees at the Nevada companies that signed up for the program. In the end, 40 employers were chosen as “Top Workplaces” based on the survey feedback. Honorees were announced Sept. 30.
