The Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association (NHLA) in partnership with the American Hotel and Lodging Association has launched the Nevada state chapter of Women in Lodging.
The industry-wide forum is exclusively for female hospitality professionals presenting an opportunity to connect with top professionals nationwide, gain career momentum, develop leadership competencies and engage in the political process relating to women in the hospitality industry.
“We are so pleased at NHLA to be able to bring this opportunity to our industry’s women. Providing leadership, resources, education, mentoring and networking is our focus for this important and dynamic chapter in Nevada,” says Diane Gandy, senior vice president, Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association.
NHLA partners with AHLA WIL national organization
AHLA WIL is a strong organization committed to promoting women’s leadership and professional career advancement within the lodging industry. By being a member of NHLA WIL, access to high powered women who empower other women is a significant benefit.

The hospitality industry in Nevada is one of the largest in the country and filled with incredibly talented women who work hard not only to provide the best experiences for their guests but more importantly, who mentor young, rising stars, so that they can find a solid foothold in the hotel business. Officers for the Nevada chapter include:
- Chairperson: Mary Giuliano, General Manager, Vdara Hotel and Spa
- Vice Chairperson: Shannon McCallum, Executive Director Hotel Operations, Aria Resort and Casino
- Executive Vice President: Diane Gandy, Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association
Along with the officers, founding WIL Council members include Mary Ann Burns, Boyd Group; Lyra Hynie, Tropicana; Dr. Toni Repetti, UNLV; Ronna Timpa, Workplace ESL.
“The launch of the NHLA Women in Lodging Chapter is a progressive approach to engage women in lodging and create a forum to develop leadership of women in our industry. It will open new opportunities of networking and education to foster overall professional and personal growth,” states Mary Giuliano, NV WIL Chairperson.
State membership is free to all women employed at NHLA hotel member organizations, regardless of position within the company.
Men wishing to support the mission of WIL may also become a member at no cost, as long as their company is a NHLA member.
NHLA allied members may join the state chapter and participate in state events and activities through NHLA WIL.
