LAS VEGAS – Members of the Nevada State Apartment Association (NVSAA), including Silver Lands, Inc., are teaming up with The Good Deed Project (TGDP) to provide holiday meals to local families in need this season.
TGDP’s Holiday Dinner Box program provides families with a ham, pie, rolls and fixings for side dishes. Donations are collected at food drives hosted by businesses throughout Southern Nevada, as well as at more than 200 local apartment communities operated by NVSAA members.
NVSAA has sponsored the food drive for the past 15 years, collecting about 12,000 pounds of food last year, with a goal of increasing that to 20,000 pounds of food this year. A portion of the donations will be used for the holiday dinner boxes and then the remaining portion will be donated to local Title 1 schools for use in their food pantries.
“It’s very important for our association members to show their continued commitment to the communities they serve and to improving the quality of life for their residents and for people in need,” said Robin Lee, NVSAA executive director.
On Wednesday, Dec. 7, the collected donations will be sorted at TGDP’s office at 8400 W. Sunset Road, where the organization and its supporters will host a celebratory rally bringing together community partners, volunteers and food drive hosts.
