Samsung Pay and Android Pay join Apple Pay as digital payment options for Nevada State Bank card holders.
Las Vegas – Nevada State Bank debit and credit cards can now be enrolled in Samsung Pay and Android Pay. Nevada State Bank is one of fewer than 200 banks nationally to offer all three mobile wallets to their clients. Digital payments are an increasingly popular way to pay for both goods and services. Recognizing this trend, Nevada State Bank has moved quickly to implement digital payment technology.
Customers who use digital payments enjoy the convenience of having payment capability easily available from their mobile devices both at the point-of-sale (POS) and for in-app purchases.
“The majority of Americans own a mobile phone. They make our lives easier by providing information and tools right there at our fingertips,” said Micah Phillips, executive vice president and marketing director for Nevada State Bank. “With mobile technology changing the way we bank and pay, enabling our debit and credit cards for digital payments is a natural step to ensure convenience for our clients and add value to their banking services.”
The technology behind digital payments is security-driven through the use of tokenization. Tokenization replaces the primary account number with a digital card number; the actual card data is not stored or accessible on the device. Transactions are also tokenized, meaning dynamically generated data must accompany a payment token in order for a purchase to be completed. Pairing tokenization with biometric or security code payment authorization can dramatically reduce point-of-sale fraud.
Digital wallets use Near Field Communication to process payments and require a contactless reader. Samsung Pay also uses Magnetic Secure Transmission, a technology that allows customers to pay at most existing magnetic stripe card readers.
There are a growing number of merchants that can process digital payments. Samsung Pay offers the widest acceptance of all three digital payment options because it can leverage existing POS hardware. However, as merchants further adopt newer POS technologies, digital payments will become more ubiquitous. Nevada State Bank cardholders are now well positioned to take advantage of this growing trend.
